- Stick to standard processes. CNC machining, injection molding, 3D printing, flat laser cutting — these are the platform's strengths.
- Check the capability list before requesting something exotic. Specialty welding and unusual finishes are better handled by specialists. There's no shame in using the right tool for the job.
- Read the DFM notes carefully. Those comments aren't noise. They exist to catch issues like the wrong revision I uploaded.
- Verify current pricing. Quotes as of January 2025 will change. Fictiv's site makes it easy to get fresh numbers, but don't assume the old quote is still valid.
There's no single supplier that's best for everything. But when a dying VMC is threatening your production schedule and you need help fast, a digital platform with clear boundaries beats a slow vendor with vague promises. That's not hype. That's just what I lived through.
